Autumn Reverie Hand-Carved Ebony Chinese Flower Hairpin

Carved from premium ebony sourced in the equatorial forests of Indonesia, where the wood takes decades to mature before its heartwood deepens to true black, the Autumn Reverie Chinese flower hairpin is the work of thirty distinct craft stages. Timber selection alone requires up to twenty-five days; hand-polishing brings out the final warmth of the grain.
The pin’s crown is sculpted into the form of an epiphyllum in full bloom, a flower that opens only at night and is long associated in classical Chinese verse with fleeting, luminous beauty. The blossom is rendered in glass and centered with a freshwater pearl stamen, set against a branch-form tray that extends the botanical composition downward along the ebony shaft. A Chinese flower hairpin of this kind makes a considered gift for anyone drawn to Hanfu, Qipao hair accessories, or the quieter traditions of Chinese craft. Total length is approximately 18 cm.
Ebony is among the densest and slowest-growing timbers in the world. Mature trees reach 40 meters in height with a trunk diameter of up to one meter, and a clean cross-section that shows solid black throughout is the mark of genuine material.
To maintain the pin, keep it away from water, cosmetics, and friction. Store sealed when not in use and remove before sleeping.
