Dongxin Hechuang Creative Park, also known as Dongxin Hechuang Park, is one of those Hangzhou places to go when you want something slower and more lived in than the usual attractions in Hangzhou. Old workshops have become restaurants, boutique guesthouses, art spaces and small shops, yet the place still keeps its quiet, rustic charm. It feels like a version of everyday life many people secretly long for: calm, refined, simple and real. Every now and then, the park also hosts markets, pop-up stalls, food sharing events and gatherings by local shop owners. Morning or noon, when sunlight comes through the leaves and tree shadows fall across the little outdoor tables, it feels especially nice to sit down with a coffee or another drink, lean back, and let time pass slowly.
Fanji is said to be the first independent furniture brand to move into the park, and its name fits the space beautifully. “Fan” suggests clarity and calm, while “ji” means furniture. The brand hopes to make pieces that truly become part of everyday life, grounded in the world and settled quietly indoors. Its style leans toward modern Chinese wabi-sabi, mostly using ash wood and black walnut. There is a strong Zen feeling in the design, with a touch of Eastern poetry, so much so that you can often recognize a Fanji piece at first glance.
Timeless is another little shop I really recommend. It is artsy, niche and full of surprises. There are two swings by the entrance for children, though honestly, adults can play too. Who says we are not still eighteen? Behind it is a geometric koi pond that feels close rather than distant. You can watch the fish swim around and maybe borrow a little good luck from them. Inside, you will find everything from dolls and books to export porcelain, unusual ornaments and giant chandeliers. There are even strange little figures that look like they came from a horror story. Basically, if you can imagine it, you might find it here.
For lunch, you can try the Yunnan restaurant, which also has a mini program on WeChat called Chaimiduo Supply and Marketing Co-op, or go to Baxi Garden. The first one tastes better, while the second is better for photos. Walking into Baxi Garden feels a little like stepping into a tropical rainforest, with areca palms, monstera leaves, vintage wooden stairs, rattan details, blue crystal-like lights and clay vases creating a relaxed Southeast Asian holiday mood. For parking, navigate to the South Gate at No. 139 Liuhe Road, Xihu District, Hangzhou. Turn right after entering and you will see the parking lot.
