Cultural Background
The Kizil Caves were first built in the 3rd century and continued until the 12th century, beginning over 200 years earlier than the famous Mogao Caves in Dunhuang. Located in the historical land of Qiuci, now Kuche County in Aksu, Xinjiang, the Kizil murals quietly preserve the early meeting of Eastern and Western cultures, while also bearing the traces of major devastation suffered in the 10th and 19th centuries.
Notes:
· Shape may vary slightly from piece to piece.
· The printed image is fine art micro-printed, and the surface is randomly hand-aged, so every artwork will look a bit different.
· Differences mentioned above are part of the intended artistic presentation, not defects. If you are sensitive to natural variation, please purchase with care. If you love this piece, we kindly ask you to respect its handmade character.
