The Perfect Weight‑Loss Trail – Fudao Skywalk

FUDAO SKYWALK

2-3 HOURS
2025/10/25

Stretching gracefully across Fuzhou’s Jinniu Mountain, the Fudao Skywalk – China’s first all‑steel elevated walkway – offers both panoramic scenery and a surprisingly good workout. It’s one of those Fuzhou attractions that feels tailor‑made for walkers, joggers, and photographers alike. Bring a drone if you wish (the aerial shots are stunning), but do mind the no‑fly zones and keep clear of crowds and military areas.

Because much of Fuzhou is hilly terrain, building large parks within the city proved impractical. Instead, the city created this 19‑kilometer‑long ecological corridor—an airy, latticed walkway linking several urban parks into one continuous loop. Completing the entire circuit is no small feat; for most visitors, it’s wiser to choose a shorter, scenic stretch. Local hikers often recommend entering at Gate 3 and exiting at Gate 5—a route that still covers over 6.5 kilometers, according to my iWatch. The walk ends at a spacious square where parking and taxis are easy to find.

Along the Fuzhou forest walkway, small placards hang from tree branches, introducing local flora and fauna. You’ll pass sweet‑scented osmanthus, persimmon, banyan, camphor and willow trees, as well as Taiwan acacias. Tree frogs, egrets, night herons, crested goshawks, squirrels, and even muntjac deer inhabit the woods-and on rare occasions, foxes have been spotted too.

For those following a Fuzhou itinerary, the trail conveniently connects back to modern life: descend the hill and a short taxi ride takes you to the bustling MixC Mall, perfect for a meal or a bit of shopping after your long walk. The Fudao Skywalk is more than just an engineering marvel; it’s a living green artery that threads together Fuzhou’s nature, energy, and everyday joy.
