The Royal Kiln Factory, Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Museum, and Dragon Ball Pavilion are all in the same location within the scenic area, which can be a bit misleading. The construction of the Imperial Kiln Museum commenced in 2016 and was fully renovated by 2021. The architectural design seamlessly integrates the essence of porcelain culture while harmonizing with the surrounding landscapes. The semi-circular brick and tile structures, reflected on the water’s surface, evoke a sense of the Mirror of the Sky in northwestern China. On both the left and right sides of the Imperial Kiln Factory, there are quaint alleyways, part of the historic districts, where numerous pottery workshops have been preserved, offering visitors an immersive experience. Photos numbered 4-7 were taken there. The merchants here are exceptionally welcoming, readily offering directions and recommendations for delightful dining and entertainment.
There are numerous spots worth capturing, requiring only an eye that appreciates beauty. At the entrance, between two arched gates, stands an area (as shown in Image 1). Upon entering, turning left, there’s a sunken staircase where queues often form in the afternoon for photography, attracting quite a crowd. Due to the Imperial Kiln Museum’s composition of several semi-circular outer structures, there’s a souvenir shop entrance with multiple seating arrangements—a fantastic spot for photography, capturing the view from outside to inside. Additionally, when night falls, the lights above the arched gates resemble stars, and many visitors gather to take photos while seated on the central benches.
Collections:
This museum spans multiple floors and exhibition areas, which might overwhelm some visitors, especially those with a penchant for detail. It’s vast and certainly worth taking the time to explore the collections thoroughly. Notable exhibits include the Ming Chenghua-style Sancai Smoked Duck, a charming duck figurine I’ve also seen at the China Ceramic Museum—undeniably adorable! Other remarkable pieces encompass the Ming Xuande-style Doucai Lotus Pond Plate, the Ming Hongwu-style Red-glazed White Lotus Bowl, the Yongle-style White-glazed Tripartite Ewer, and the Yuan Dynasty Blue-and-White Five-Clawed Dragon-patterned Go Game Jar.
