Enchanted Crossroads at Hangzhou Guibo Garden

HANGZHOU・HANGZHOU GUIBO GARDEN
3-4 HOURS
2023/03/18

I often saw notes about Guibo Garden on Xiaohongshu but never visited because it seemed too far from home. Last week, a friend happened to take me there, and I discovered this secluded and mysterious osmanthus forest. It is unmanaged but filled with 3-6 meter tall osmanthus trees, creating a labyrinth-like scene. The trees are pruned into charming, round shapes, reminiscent of those in Monument Valley. From an aerial view, the osmanthus forest appears well-arranged. When taking photos here, the undulating paths can effectively guide the viewer’s eyes, directing them as intended by the photographer.

Guibo Garden seems to be a local plantation with no commercial considerations, thus no entrance fee. It likely gained popularity after someone posted aerial photos online. There are multiple entrances to the garden; we chose a more secluded one. It is said that the garden features various types of osmanthus, including golden osmanthus, red osmanthus, and silver osmanthus. I hope to return this autumn to capture more photos when the osmanthus blooms.

As it is located in a rural area with inconvenient roads, it is recommended to drive there. You can locate it by searching for “Hangzhou Guibo Garden Tourism Development Co., Ltd.” Recently, many people have seen posts about this place on Xiaohongshu, so it has become quite popular. There are also more drones now, so you might find several flying overhead while you take photos. Please be considerate and help each other take satisfactory pictures.
