The Mount Siguniang Scenic Area features three valleys: Shuangqiao Valley, Changping Valley, and Haizi Valley. The landscape here, resembling a fairyland, serves as a sanctuary for the people of Chengdu. Named Mount Siguniang for its four continuous peaks—Daguniang Mountain (1st Peak), Erguniang Mountain (2nd peak), Sanguniang Mountain (3rd peak), and the peak of the youngest sister—this region’s landscape surpasses expectations. Among the valleys, Shuangqiao Valley stands as the most developed scenic area, allowing visitors to explore the entire route via a sightseeing car. The sightseeing car’s route includes stops at: Hongshan Forest – Budala Peak – Sigu Nacuo – Chasing Fish Dam (offering drifting during rainy seasons) – Longzhucuo – 3360 Cafe – Ginseng Fruit Plateau. The sightseeing car heads directly to the terminal station, Hongshan Forest (approximately 1 hour), before making stops at each station on the return journey. In many ways, the scenery here rivals the beauty of Switzerland, with snow-capped mountains, white pagodas, meadows, and cascading streams weaving a mesmerizing tapestry.
Main attractions:
Hongshan Forest: At an altitude of 3840 meters, and with this year being the Year of the Rabbit, it provides the best vantage point for capturing views of the Rabbit Peak. When feeling hungry or tired, you can also sample the local sausages and cured pork ribs available at various stalls, allowing for comparison shopping.
Budala Peak: Offering views of prayer flags, white pagodas, prayer wheels, and meadows, every photo taken here encapsulates the stunning snow-capped mountains along the road.
Sigu Nacuo: In Tibetan, ‘Nacuo’ means lake. Here, dried trees interlace on the lake’s surface, reminiscent of the solitary trees of Lake Wanaka in New Zealand.
Chasing Fish Dam: During summer, this spot offers drifting experiences covering a total distance of two kilometers, with a drifting duration of around 20 minutes. An additional fee of 90 yuan per person is required for the boat ticket. The banks are adorned with blooming wildflowers, making it a perfect summer destination.
Longzhucuo: The scenery here mirrors that of Sigu Nacuo; visiting either suffices.
Ginseng Fruit Plateau: Here, a clear stream and herds of leisurely grazing yaks await your visit.
3360 Cafe: A dining spot not far from the newly developed educational base in the area.
While aboard the sightseeing car, passengers can listen to introductions about various spots in the scenic area, including information about the flora and fauna of Shuangqiao Valley.
Essentials for the trip:
Rain gear + hiking/outdoor shoes + oxygen cylinder (altitude sickness is a possibility). If lacking any of these items, you can ask the scenic area staff for assistance when feeling uncomfortable.
Ticket prices:
Shuangqiao Valley = 150 yuan/person
Changping Valley = 90 yuan/person
Haizi Valley = 60 yuan/person
